Ridgevue Senior Jarom Walker Voted Idaho Recruit Hub Player of the Week
Ridgevue senior running back Jarom Walker has been voted the Idaho Recruit Hub Player of the Week by fans on IdahoRecruitHub.com following a dominant performance on the ground.
Walker was the workhorse for the Warhawks, finishing with 28 carries for 183 rushing yards and three touchdowns. He also contributed 20 receiving yards, giving him 203 total yards of offense.
While the numbers stood out, Walker’s head coach pointed to the physicality behind them.
“What stood out most is his leg drive and ability to get yards after contact,” his head coach said. “He ran really hard, and it’s straight up the gut every time. He has tremendous potential as a back.”
Walker consistently fought through contact and kept runs alive, showing the physical running style that has become a major part of his game. His ability to make defenders miss also helped him find additional running lanes throughout the night.
His coach highlighted Walker’s ability to make jump cuts and quickly get vertical as another one of his biggest strengths. Combined with his size and speed, those traits have helped make the senior a difficult matchup for opposing defenses.
“He’s got so much potential, and I’m really hoping that he continues to have a breakout year to showcase to schools just how good he really is,” his coach said.
For Walker, though, his impact at Ridgevue extends beyond what he does with the football. His head coach described him as one of the team's leaders and someone who represents the program well away from the field.
“He has the size and the speed, and he’s a phenomenal kid,” his coach said. “One of our leaders and one of the most humble young men I’ve ever met.”
With 183 rushing yards, three touchdowns and 203 total yards, Walker’s performance earned the attention of Idaho high school football fans and ultimately their vote as the Idaho Recruit Hub Player of the Week.
