Week 1 Player of the Week

Bishop Kelly’s Dane Matlock Named Idaho Recruit Hub Week 1 Player of the Week

Bishop Kelly senior outside linebacker Dane Matlock has been named the Idaho Recruit Hub Week 1 Player of the Week after a dominant defensive performance against Aquinas (CA).

Matlock was all over the field for the Knights, finishing the game with 14 tackles, four tackles for loss and two sacks. He consistently found his way into the backfield and made his presence felt throughout the matchup.

What stood out most was Matlock’s activity and physicality. Whether he was coming off the edge, pursuing the ball carrier or stepping up against the run, he played with a high motor and seemed to constantly be around the football. His four tackles for loss and two sacks showed his ability to create disruption behind the line of scrimmage.

Facing an out-of-state opponent in Aquinas also gave Matlock an opportunity to put his ability on display against a tough physical program from California. He took advantage of it, putting together one of the top individual defensive performances from Week 1.

Matlock enters his senior season as an important piece of a Bishop Kelly defense looking to help the Knights continue their success. Matlock holds offers from Carroll and College of Idaho. Performances like this should only bring more attention his way as the season progresses.

After the fan vote, Matlock earned the title of Idaho Recruit Hub Week 1 Player of the Week.

Congratulations to Dane Matlock on a huge Week 1 performance.
