Kimberly's Joe Barrett Named Idaho Recruit Hub Week 6 Player of the Week
KIMBERLY, Idaho — No matter how many defenders opposing teams throw his way, Kimberly High School senior wide receiver Joe Barrett continues to find ways to make plays.
The three-star recruit has been named the Idaho Recruit Hub Week 6 Player of the Week following an outstanding performance in which he recorded 11 receptions for 233 yards and four touchdowns, while also making an impact defensively with an interception.
Barrett's performance was another reminder of why he is considered one of Idaho's top wide receivers and one of the state's most dangerous offensive weapons.
A Matchup Nightmare for Opposing Defenses
At this point in the season, opposing defenses know exactly who Barrett is. Stopping him, however, has proven to be a completely different challenge.
Despite regularly facing double coverage and even triple coverage at times, Barrett continues to produce.
His Week 6 performance showcased his ability to take over a game, finishing with 233 receiving yards on 11 catches while finding the end zone five times, with one being called back.
What makes Barrett particularly dangerous is his combination of speed, athleticism, and playmaking ability. With a 10.9 100 meter dash, Barrett possesses the speed to stretch defenses vertically and turn routine receptions into explosive plays.
Defenses are forced to account for him on nearly every snap, yet Barrett continues to find ways to get open and make an impact.
More Than Just an Offensive Weapon
While Barrett is widely recognized for his production at wide receiver, his Week 6 performance also highlighted his versatility.
Along with his four receiving touchdowns, Barrett recorded an interception on defense, demonstrating his ability to contribute on both sides of the football.
His athleticism and instincts make him a valuable weapon wherever he lines up.
For a player already drawing significant attention at the next level, performances like these only strengthen his reputation as one of Idaho's premier athletes.
Three-Star Recruit Drawing College Attention
Barrett is currently rated as a three star prospect by Rivals.
However, his recruitment continues to generate interest, with additional college programs taking notice of his production and athletic ability.
His speed, versatility, and ability to perform against defensive schemes specifically designed to limit him make Barrett an intriguing prospect at the collegiate level.
For college coaches evaluating wide receiver talent, Barrett offers more than impressive statistics. He has demonstrated the ability to produce even when he is the primary focus of an opposing defense.
One of Idaho's Top Wide Receivers
As the 2026 high school football season progresses, Barrett continues to establish himself among the state's leading receivers.
His Week 6 numbers speak for themselves:
11 Receptions
233 Receiving Yards
4 Receiving Touchdowns
1 Defensive Interception
21.2 Yards Per Reception
Perhaps the most impressive part of Barrett's season is that his production has continued despite the extra defensive attention he receives each week.
When teams dedicate multiple defenders to stopping one player, it creates a challenge that few high school receivers consistently overcome. Barrett has continued to answer that challenge.
With his senior season underway, Barrett remains a player worth watching as Kimberly pushes through the remainder of its schedule.
Congratulations to Kimberly senior Joe Barrett on being named the Idaho Recruit Hub Week 6 Player of the Week!
